Welcome to Top Stitch, Southern Oregon’s Bernina specialist and Medford’s local quilt shop. Since 1998 we’ve strived to provide ‘big city’ expertise with the advantage of ‘small town’ personal service.
    Co-owners Jonathan and Karen Hanken won the prestigious “Dealer of the Year” award from Bernina in 1996 for their store in Bellingham, WA. Soon after they decided to re-locate to the beautiful Rogue Valley where they wanted to live “the rest of their lives”.
     Jonathan Hanken has worked in the sewing industry most his adult life, originally self-taught making costumes for friends and performers. He has continually improved his knowledge and skills by attending training programs and just by ‘doing it’.

     Karen was professionally trained as an artist and always loved textiles, but didn’t think she could sew until she got a Bernina. In 2003 she decided to try her hand at art quilts and since then has won numerous awards at the major shows. Her quilts have appeared in several magazines, one book and two wall calendars.
